FASHION REPETITION: ZARA LEAVES HOLES IN MILLYS WINDOWPANES
Fast-fashion retailer Zara is notorious for jumping on the hottest trends every season at frightening speed. Spotted on the trend list is sheer bottoms with grid pattern, which we loved from Milly’s Spring Summer 2015 runway.
Established in 2001 by Michelle Smith, MILLY has won the adoration of fans including Beyoncé Knowles, Kate Middleton, Mila Kunis and Gwyneth Paltrow. Equipped with an eagle eye for detail and seamless combination of American silhouettes with Parisian technique, Smith has evolved beyond prêt-à-porter and started a line of small leather accessories, handbags and swimwear. Although MILLY does have a notable clientage, the brand has not hit major radars, which makes the would-be trendsetting brand a target for bigger corporate fish (like Zara) to take the bowl.
The Zara pants shown above has not hit stores or online shops yet but we are seeing them pop up all over collection campaign photographs as well as being paired with a number of shirts …etc. We expect these velvet grid sheer pants to hit later this year for the spring time, but we know Milly’s distinctive theme of sheer bottoms were one of the firsts to really gun for coquettish semi-see through pants and skirts.by
