FASHION NEWS: SAINT LAURENT RETURNS TO ITS ORIGINS
Saint Laurent Paris artistic director, Hedi Slimane, has decided to move back to the Left Bank by the Seine River. The original nest of Yves Saint Laurent in 1961, Left Bank’s Penthémont Cistercian Abbey will be home to SLP headquarters and showrooms. Leaving its current year-long home in Parisian townhouse, Hôtel de Sénecterre, the company believes the move would be paying “homage to the French house’s creators, Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé, within the Rue Babylone and Rue Bonaparte tradition.” The move is estimated to be complete by 2018.
The move back to the Left Bank would be refreshing in light of massive rebranding that included changing “Yves Saint Laurent” to “Saint Laurent Paris”…etc. Yves nostalgia has hit the fashion world hard with a biopic “Yves Saint Laurent” showing last summer and major spectacles on Slimane reinvention. Let’s see if the move would stir up some familiarity like the Mondrian shift.
