FASHION WEEK: ELIE SAAB S/S 2016 PFW
Paris Fashion Week: the crème de la crème of all fashion shows is almost complete. Scattered among headlines highlighting Lagerfeld’s unwavering scène de l’aéroport, or rather Chanel Airlines, to the IT girl social recaps for fashion besties Gigi and Kendall, stands Elie Saab. The luxury designers S/S 2016 collection embodied true Elie Saab essence and style of pure femininity.
“For Spring-Summer 2016, I wanted to introduce a woman who takes the codes of the House and feels free to portray them in her own way,” said Saab of her Paris Fashion Week show.
This past weekend Saab rolled out a line of ready-to-wear styles composed of a multitude of luxurious fabrics including silk, lace, crepe, and chiffon in rich and bold colors and patterns. Many looks displayed a transfusion of dressed up and dressed down styles incorporating the use of gazar and broiderie anglaise to create bold shapes, bomber jackets, and trousers.
Lace and florals, Saab house staples, were imbued with laser perforated leather alongside gamine tied ribbons and flowing scarves—all stylistic elements that contributed to the stereotypical Elie Saab woman, a woman who is young and free in her wardrobe and style; a woman who mixes clothes from day and night with a carefree and effortless attitude.
The largest take away from the show was the introduction of a new handbag line, “le 31”. Featured in this line are rectilinear, polished box-calf bags with faceted square clasps.
