BUSINESS NEWS: NET-A-PORTER TALKS DEALS WITH AMAZON AND YOOX
It is no surprise that high-fashion e-commerce retailer Net-a-Porter is a gem and both Yoox Group and Amazon.com Inc are showing great interest in polishing its shine. Both companies are in talks with Richemont about the luxury fashion marketer. WWD reported that Amazon is interested in acquiring the company last Thursday, and now Yoox Group has set its eye on it this Monday according to Fashionista.
Both parties seem eligible, but it seems that Yoox Group may have the upper hand. Already a supplier of affluent brands, like Ann Demuelemeester and Jil Sander, Yoox has mentioned that Net-a-Porter is one of its greater competitors. If it does merge with Porter then it stands to be a massive one-stop upper-crust fashion e-market.
Amazon, however, is not the quintessential high fashion retailer since many brands have declined to sell their products on the departmental website; third-party retailers have managed to list some high quality wears regardless. If it does merge with Net-a-Porter, Amazon could catalyze it’s move into the fashion market exponentially.
Further talks will be updated in Yoox Group investor relations as well as Net-a-Porter.
