Fashion News: Lagerfeld to Receive Outstanding Achievement Award at British Fashion Awards
Fashion icon and visionary for luxury design houses Chanel and Fendi, Karl Lagerfeld, will be honored with the Outstanding Achievement Award at this year’s British Fashion Awards on November 23. The 82-year-old designer is the first recipient to be announced during the event and will be recognized for his accolades as the creative director for both Chanel and Fendi.
Chair of the British Fashion Council, Natalie Massenet, praised Lagerfeld for his work spanning over fifty years in the industry. “Karl Lagerfeld defines outstanding,” she commented. “He is the champion of excellence, the master of the exceptional and one of the most iconic figures globally from our industry. His life’s work for his own and so many extraordinary brands, has written the language of fashion. He is the ultimate visionary and we celebrate not only the decades already passed but those yet to happen. In Karl’s hands the future of fashion will be an exceptional one.”
Lagerfeld is widely known as being a creative that doesn’t think in terms of ‘business’ when it comes to his companies, but rather simply does whatever he wants. “I think after a certain amount of years your priorities change a little and your mind is freer. I don’t have to battle for what I’m doing, I just do it,” he said.
Previous winners of this award include Anna Wintour for 2014 and iD magazine founders Terry and Tricia Jones for 201 and Manolo Blahnik for 2012.by
