BUSINESS NEWS: HASTA LA VISTA, DKNY PR GIRL
It’s the end of an era—well not really, but this certainly rings true for Donna Karan New York (DKNY). Aliza Licht, most commonly known as “DKNY PR Girl,” announced last week that she would be exiting the company in the fall and leaving the brand’s social media handles in the capable hands of…well, someone else. Before social media and Twitter escalated to their popularity today, Licht created an anonymous account under the name DKNY PR Girl in 2009 and, well the rest is history.
Earlier this year Licht, SVP of Communications at DKNY, released her first book Leave Your Mark— a written account of Licht’s career chronicles from her pre-med days to her intern roles at fashion magazines, and ultimately leading up to her time with Donna Karan.
In an effort to pursue other opportunities related to her book release, Licht felt that removing herself from the fashion brand entirely would afford her the greatest occasions to promote her own work.
Licht commented, “Since the launch and success of my book Leave Your Mark, I have been traveling the world meeting with the community that has gathered through social media. Their overwhelming response has encouraged me to pursue new opportunities in media. For the next few months I will be enjoying the new chapter at DKNY and helping the company transition through the fall. It has been an extraordinary seventeen years for me at Donna Karan International. I am extremely grateful for their support and I am excited about the future.”
