FASHION RECAP: CONDÉ NAST LETS GO OF NOWMANIFEST
Last summer FashionBoss questioned the stability and power moves of style bloggers in the fashion world mentioning the likes of Now Manifest hostees who have the advertising savvy of Condé Nast to back their sartorial adventures. The mass media conglomerate, however, withdrew their umbrella of influence over their NM bloggers, which included Susie Bubble, Anna Dello Russo, BryanBoy and Fashion Toast.
The style bloggers are once again given free rein to affiliate themselves with their own advertising campaigns, which Anna is excited for and Susie Bubble is bittersweet about the separation.
Condé Nast’s merging with the blogging platform in 2012 was a surprising move considering that not all the NM contributors were informed. Interest from a major publication network taking note of the independent personal style gurus showed that blogs were no minor phenomena. Since then, Condé Nast decided to close the partnership to focus more on the identity crisis of Style.com. Originally an online version of Vogue and W Magazine, Style.com broke off from Vogue (when it developed its own website) and headed the fashion runway galleries and street style circuit–all of which were aligning with Vogue.com as well. In short, Style.com’s niche remains ambiguous.
A Style.com representative states that “[they] are redoubling our focus on expanding our industry-leading site, Style.com.”
