FASHION & STYLE: ALEXANDER WANG x H&M LAUNCHES IN NOVEMBER
Buzz about Alexander Wang‘s collaboration with Swedish fast-fashion titan, H&M, has reached its apex for the campaign released five stunning photographs of the collection on September 25th. The collection is scheduled to officially launch on November 6th, according to WWD.
Photographed by Mikael Jansson, athletes Andy Carroll (soccer) and Rivaldino dos Santos (kickboxer) join models Joan Smalls, Raquel Zimmermann, Isabeli Fontana, and Natasha Poly in high-contrast shots with quintessential sport accouterments: hockey sticks, a football, a soccer ball, and boxing gloves. The collection adds a grimy athletic twist to cold-weather staples such as large puff jackets and parkas. Rich in weather-resistant and breathable fabrics like mesh, spandex, and jersey cotton, the ensembles emphasize the durability and the intended active-wear aesthetic.
In addition to the photograph release, loyal patrons are expected to see an online-only short film on the Wang x H&M concept, and TV commercials that will start airing on October 30th.
“We wanted to take certain elements of each sport and portray the ultimate warrior,” Wang told WWD. “The girls had to feel big and heroic, and Mikael used sunlight glares to heighten that effect against a stark white backdrop.”
