Fashion News: Alexa Chung uses her APP: VILLOIDEmerage to help promote emerging designers
Alexa Chung, the British model has graced the fashion scene for years outside of fashion campaigns. As a contributing editor to British Vogue, a denim designer, and now an APP owner, we don’t believe her momentum will stop there. The APP in discussion is VILLOIDEmerge, a digital platform whose sole purpose is to assist smaller designers promote their brands onto an international scale.
The app was made to help nurture and grow a small label into a bigger brand across an international scale. With nearly 650+ already established brands locked into its database, the mobile fashion app has already taken flight. Chung will be using her visibility on the international fashion scene to promote up-and-coming designers, whether by partnering with Vogue UK or utilizing her seat as an ambassador to the British Fashion Council, as Chung has the backing of the BFC’s Newgen initiative.
In order to take advantage of the app, qualifications must be met before moving forward with an online portfolio. Designers must have a web shop, HD images, and product data feed to supply to the Villoid Team. The App will allow users to create shoppable inspiration boards (similar to Pinterest or SquareSpace) but aimed specifically towards fashion itself instead of marketing against other competitive categories.
According to Jeanette Dyhre-Kvisvik, Villoid CEO, Emerge was conceived to meet user demand. “Coupled with Alexa’s dedicated drive and passion in supporting emerging designers and brands, our community had begun requesting for lesser known brands to be featured on Villoid,” she said in the release. “Simultaneously, hundreds of smaller brands reached out to us, asking to showcase and sell their collections on our platform.”
By creating a shoppable app, it allows for a more fluid checkout process and satisfies your instant gratification needs towards boutique shopping. Magazines such as InStyle, Elle, and Harper’s Bazaar have all been keeping their eyes locked over the app. Vogue has already listed the APP on the list of “Apps you need to win Fashion Week”. Not to mention, the APP been featured on Apple’s “Best New APP List”.
